Alyssa Podgorni

As a licensed mental health professional with over 11 years of experience, I help clients heal from trauma, process emotional distress, build stability, and reconnect with a grounded, empowered version of themselves. I combine clinical skills with a deep commitment to guiding clients towards meaningful change.

My goal is to foster a compassionate space where individuals feel empowered to address their challenges and progress towards emotional well-being. My practice focuses on addressing trauma-related issues, anxiety, depression, postpartum challenges, perfectionism, and life transitions.

I am an EMDR Certified Therapist who adapts my counseling approach to suit each person's specific needs. My practice integrates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), enhanced by elements from Polyvagal theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

A proven, structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer hold the same emotional charge, freeing you from patterns that keep you stuck.

How It Works

Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound), EMDR helps your nervous system process stuck memories and reduce their distress. It is evidence-based and recognized by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association.

EMDR Certified Therapist

Alyssa holds EMDR certification through EMDRIA, a credential requiring advanced training, consultation, and supervised clinical hours beyond standard licensure. She brings 11+ years of clinical experience to this work.

My Approach

I adapt my approach to each person's unique needs, drawing from several evidence-based modalities. CBT, DBT, and Polyvagal theory are woven in as supporting frameworks throughout our work together.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Trauma reprocessing through bilateral stimulation to reduce distress and build lasting resilience.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

A compassionate model that helps you understand and integrate different “parts” of yourself, reducing inner conflict and building self-leadership.

Compassion-Focused

Building self-compassion as the foundation for healing, gently reducing shame and self-criticism in a structured, evidence-based way.

Person-Centered

You lead. The therapeutic relationship is built on unconditional positive regard. Therapy adapts to your goals, your pace, and your values.

Additional frameworks: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) · Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) · Polyvagal Theory
